TLDR Finasteride treatment changes hormone levels in male pattern baldness patients.
The study investigated the effects of finasteride treatment on male pattern baldness (MPB) by analyzing metabolomics and steroid signatures in the urine of patients over a year. Finasteride, which inhibits the 5-alpha reductase enzyme and blocks dihydrotestosterone (DHT) production, was found to impact the levels of DHT and testosterone (T) in patients. The research aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the metabolic changes associated with finasteride treatment in MPB patients.
