TLDR PRP is more effective than minoxidil for treating male pattern baldness.
The study aimed to compare the efficacy of platelet rich plasma (PRP) versus minoxidil (5%-10%) in treating androgenetic alopecia in males. It involved 220 male patients aged 20-50 years, diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia of grade II to VII. The participants were randomly divided into two groups, with one group receiving PRP treatment and the other minoxidil. Over a 6-month period, responses were assessed through investigator and photographic evaluations. The results showed that 76% of patients treated with PRP had a good response, compared to 48% of those treated with minoxidil. The study concluded that PRP could be a more effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia than minoxidil.
