TLDR Microneedling with platelet-rich plasma and minoxidil improves hair growth more than just minoxidil in men with hair loss.
A study conducted 6 years ago compared the effectiveness of microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) plus topical minoxidil (5%) versus topical minoxidil (5%) alone in men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The study included 50 patients with AGA who were randomly divided into two groups. After 6 months of treatment, the group that received microneedling with PRP showed a significant improvement in hair growth compared to the group that received topical minoxidil alone. The study concluded that microneedling with PRP is a safe and effective treatment for AGA.
