TLDR Korean Red Ginseng may help protect hair from damage and promote growth.
The study explored the protective effects of Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) and its main ginsenoside, G-Rb1, on human hair follicles against oxidative stress-induced damage. Using an in vitro organ model, it was found that KRG and G-Rb1 significantly reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and apoptosis in follicular keratinocytes (FKCs), alleviating hair growth inhibition and preventing the transition from the anagen to the telogen stage. These protective effects were associated with the modulation of p53 and Bax/Bcl2 signaling pathways. The findings suggest that KRG and G-Rb1 can mitigate oxidative damage, promote hair growth, and maintain healthy hair cycles, indicating their potential in developing treatments for hair loss.
