TLDR Hydrogen peroxide in hair dye can cause hair loss.
The study investigated the effects of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on hair growth, focusing on the GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling pathway in human hair follicles and dermal papilla cells. It was found that H2O2, a common ingredient in hair dyes, induced oxidative stress that led to hair loss by downregulating β-catenin, a crucial component in hair follicle morphogenesis and regeneration. This research highlighted the cytotoxic effects of H2O2, which, despite its role in modulating signaling pathways, contributed to hair dye-induced hair loss.
