TLDR Red ginseng oil may help grow hair and protect skin from UVC light.
The study demonstrated that red ginseng oil (RGO) has the potential to promote hair growth and protect against UVC-induced skin damage. In the hair growth experiment with C57BL/6 mice, topical application of RGO for 21 days led to an increase in hair follicle density and bulb diameter, and an early transition from the telogen to anagen phase, similar to the effects of minoxidil. RGO also upregulated hair growth-related proteins and genes. In the skin protection experiment with SKH-1 hairless mice, RGO reduced UVC-induced apoptosis and inflammation and increased cytoprotective enzymes, suggesting its effectiveness in preventing skin damage from UVC radiation. The study indicates that RGO could be beneficial for hair growth promotion and skin health.
