TLDR Chilled ATPv-supplemented saline best preserves hair grafts' key genes.
The study investigated the impact of different preservation solutions and temperatures on the gene expression of dermal papilla (DP) cells in hair follicle (HF) grafts during follicular unit excision (FUE). The authors found that storing HF grafts in chilled conditions, as opposed to room temperature, helped prevent inflammatory cytokine signaling. Among the tested solutions, ATPv-supplemented saline was the most effective in preserving the expression of key trichogenic genes, HEY1 and LEF1. The findings highlighted the importance of DP gene expression analysis in determining the best preservation solutions for maintaining HF graft viability and trichogenicity in clinical practice.
