TLDR Topical finasteride effectively and safely increases hair growth in men with hair loss.
The study assessed the efficacy and safety of a topical finasteride spray solution in 270 Chinese men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) over 24 weeks. Results showed that the topical finasteride significantly increased hair count and vertex hair growth compared to placebo, with a treatment efficacy of 48.6% versus 31.8% for placebo. The safety profile was favorable, with no serious adverse events and similar incidences of mild to moderate treatment emergent adverse events in both groups. The study concludes that topical finasteride is an effective and safer alternative to oral finasteride for treating AGA.
