TLDR Stem cell-derived conditioned medium is effective in improving hair density and thickness for alopecia treatment.
This systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 clinical trials with 221 participants found that stem cell–derived conditioned medium (CM) significantly increased hair density (MD: 14.93, 95% CI: 10.20–19.67, p < 0.0001) and hair thickness (MD: 18.67, 95% CI: 2.75–34.59, p < 0.0001) in alopecia patients. Longer treatment durations led to greater improvements (p = 0.02). Analysis of three RCTs also showed significant results for hair density (MD: 9.23, 95% CI: 1.79–16.68, p < 0.00001). The study concluded that stem cell–derived CM is an effective treatment for alopecia, with no significant difference between application methods.
