TLDR Using a special stem cell formula on the scalp once a month for six months helped people with hair loss grow more hair.
In a study of 40 patients with alopecia, the application of adipose-derived stem cell-conditioned medium (ADSC-CM) through intradermal injections monthly for 6 months resulted in significant improvements in hair growth. The study observed a notable increase in hair density and the rate of anagen (growth phase) hairs. Additionally, there was a significant increase in trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) at 4 and 6 months, although hydration and skin surface lipid levels did not change. Dermal thickness and echogenicity also increased significantly. These findings suggest that ADSC-CM could be a promising alternative treatment for alopecia, with potential regenerative effects on hair follicles and the interfollicular scalp.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
