TLDR The secretome from mesenchymal stem cells shows promise for treating skin conditions and improving skin and hair health, but more research is needed.
The review "Mesenchymal Stem Cell Secretome for Dermatology Application" discusses the therapeutic potential of secretome, a molecule secreted by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), for various skin conditions. The secretome contains growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular vesicles that can improve cell proliferation and migration, aiding in skin regeneration. It has potential applications in wound healing, photoprotection, hair growth promotion, psoriasis treatment, and antimicrobial applications. The secretome from various sources has been shown to accelerate wound healing, reduce wrinkles, improve skin hydration, and stimulate hair growth. However, the process to obtain secretome from MSCs can affect the level of expression of the resulting factors, and more research is needed to maximize its potential use. The review was based on 90 selected articles, but did not provide the number of people involved in the studies.
