TLDR Placental mesenchymal stem cells and their conditioned medium significantly improve healing in local radiation injuries.
The study from November 29, 2020, investigated the treatment of local radiation injuries (LRIs) in 80 laboratory animals using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from the placenta and their conditioned medium (CMPL). The animals were divided into four groups and exposed to 110 Gy of X-ray radiation. Results indicated that the CMPL group experienced significantly accelerated wound healing and tissue regeneration, with a 6.7 times smaller wound surface area by day 112 compared to the control group, and complete healing in 60% of the CMPL group. Histological and immunohistochemical analyses revealed signs of epithelial regeneration, increased neoangiogenesis, and changes in macrophage and metalloproteinase activity in the treated groups, particularly in the CMPL group. The study concluded that MSCs and their conditioned medium, especially CMPL, are effective in improving healing in LRIs, with the CMPL group showing the most significant improvement.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
