TLDR LncRNA RP11-818024.3 helps hair growth and recovery in hair loss by boosting cell survival and reducing cell death.
The study investigates the role of lncRNA RP11-818024.3 in hair-follicle recovery, particularly in androgenic alopecia (AGA) patients. The researchers found that transfection of lncRNA RP11-818024.3 in AGA mice led to significant hair growth and recovery of hair follicle cells. In vitro studies with human hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) showed increased cellular proliferation and decreased apoptosis following lncRNA RP11-818024.3 transfection. Transcriptomic gene sequencing and qRT-PCR revealed that the PI3K-Akt pathway and fibroblast growth factor (FGF)2 were significantly up-regulated, suggesting these pathways play a crucial role in promoting follicle stem cell survival. This research provides a potential new therapeutic method for AGA patients.
