Combination Therapy in Female Pattern Hair Loss

    Shreya Deoghare, Neil S. Sadick
TLDR Using multiple treatments together works better for female hair loss than using one treatment alone.
Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is a common non-scarring alopecia characterized by the miniaturization of hair follicles, with an unclear link to androgens or other hormones, making it difficult to treat. Various treatments, including minoxidil (topical or oral), spironolactone, and finasteride, have been used alone or in combination with varying success. Combination therapy is found to be superior to monotherapy as it targets different pathogenetic pathways, resulting in a more aggressive and effective treatment approach.
