TLDR New treatments for hair loss are emerging as we better understand hair growth and its genetic causes.
The review discusses the complex biology of hair follicles and the pathomechanisms behind various forms of alopecia. It highlights recent discoveries that have led to novel treatment options. Sublingual minoxidil is identified as a promising therapy due to its optimized drug delivery, which enhances efficacy and reduces systemic side effects. Janice kinase inhibitors are noted for their ability to disrupt the inflammatory cascade, maintain hair follicles, preserve immune privilege, and regrow hair in cases of alopecia areata. The review concludes that as the understanding of alopecia pathomechanisms improves, more effective targeted therapies will be developed.
