TLDR Human placenta hydrogel helps restore cells needed for hair growth.
The study from August 2019 found that human placenta extracellular matrix (HPECM) hydrogel can restore the hair-inductive potential of high-passaged dermal papilla cells (DPCs), which are essential for hair follicle regeneration. The research showed that DPCs at passage 8 (P8) lost their hair-inductive capacity when cultured in 2D, but when cultured in 3D using HPECM hydrogel, they regained this capacity. The hydrogel-cultured DPCs expressed key hair-inductive markers and, when transplanted into nude mice along with mouse epidermal cells, successfully regenerated new hair follicles. This suggests that HPECM hydrogel could serve as a scaffold for hair follicle regeneration and might be used in future hair loss treatments. The study was supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China and reported no financial conflicts of interest.

There are discussions about why it is taking so long to get cosmetic mass produced tropoelastin injectables on the market.

A 27-year-old male with diffuse hair loss, including the donor area, did not respond to finasteride, dutasteride, or minoxidil. He suspects his hair loss may be linked to a mild connective tissue disorder, possibly affecting the structural support of hair follicles, rather than being purely hormonal.
