TLDR PRP shows promise for hair growth but needs standardized methods for better results.
This review examines the potential of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA), emphasizing its ability to promote hair growth through growth factors. While PRP shows promise, its clinical application is limited by the lack of standardized preparation and treatment protocols, which affects its efficacy. Studies, including one with 69 patients, indicate that PRP combined with treatments like minoxidil and microneedling enhances hair density and patient satisfaction. Despite moderate efficacy and good tolerance, the variability in preparation methods and high costs hinder widespread use. The review calls for further research to optimize PRP protocols and establish clear guidelines, highlighting PRP as a promising alternative for patients who experience side effects from conventional treatments.
