TLDR Different hair loss types need accurate diagnosis for proper treatment.
This article discusses various conditions that can mimic androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a common form of hair loss caused by genetics and hormones. The article lists several diseases and syndromes that can be mistaken for AGA, and emphasizes the importance of considering anamnesis, clinical examination, videodermatoscopy, and sometimes histological examination to make the correct diagnosis. The article concludes that a correct diagnosis is important because different therapies are proposed for different types of alopecia, and some scarring forms of alopecia can lead to untreatable cases.
