TLDR Hair transplant destroyed by lichen planopilaris.
This study is about a 75-year-old man who developed progressive recession of his frontal hairline associated with loss of follicular orifices and development of telangiectasia over an 18-month period after receiving hair transplants for androgenetic alopecia. Multiple scalp biopsies were analyzed, revealing lichenoid inflammation and perifollicular fibrosis in a pattern typical of lichen planopilaris. The results indicate that the destruction of hair transplants by lichen planopilaris may present as subtle patterns other than just frontal FFA.
