TLDR New treatments like low-level laser therapy, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and micro needling show positive results for hair regrowth in people with genetic hair loss.
Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) is a genetically determined disorder causing hair loss due to excessive sensitivity to androgens. While traditional treatments include topical minoxidil and finasteride, this review explores new techniques such as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP), Micro needling, and Topical Growth Factors and Peptides. LLLT uses low-intensity light to improve blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and boost cellular energy, leading to improved hair follicle density and diameter. PRP, used in dermatology for various treatments, involves a centrifugation process that increases platelet concentration. Micro needling is a minimally invasive procedure that stimulates collagen production, growth factors, and neovascularization, promoting tissue rejuvenation. These approaches have shown positive outcomes in terms of hair regrowth, improved hair density, increased hair shaft thickness, and patient satisfaction.
