TLDR Two L-PRP treatments improve hair density in mild to moderate alopecia.
This retrospective cohort study evaluated the clinical efficacy of a novel method for preparing autologous leucocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma (L-PRP) in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 46 patients over 5 years. The study found significant improvement in hair density for patients with mild and moderate alopecia, with 52% and 46% showing increased hair density, respectively, after two L-PRP applications. However, no improvement was observed in the PN-tug test across all severity grades, and a third application did not provide additional benefits. Patient satisfaction was highest in those with moderate alopecia after two sessions, scoring 5.2/10. The study suggests that two L-PRP applications are beneficial for mild to moderate alopecia, but longer controlled trials are needed to establish a standardized protocol.
