TLDR lncRNAs may regulate hair follicle development in Hu sheep.
The study analyzed the expression profiles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the hair follicles of Hu sheep lambskin, identifying 75 differentially expressed lncRNAs and 25 differentially expressed mRNAs between small waves and straight wool. Key genes such as FGF12 and ATP1B4 were enriched in signaling pathways like MAPK, PI3K-Akt, and Ras, which are associated with hair follicle growth and development. The lncRNA TCONS_00279168 was predicted to target FGF12 and ATP1B4, suggesting a regulatory role in these pathways. These findings provided insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying hair follicle development in Hu sheep, highlighting the potential regulatory roles of lncRNAs in hair follicle morphogenesis.
