TLDR PRP injections can increase hair density in people with androgenic alopecia.
This systematic review and meta-analysis of 14 randomized clinical trials with 431 participants found that autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections significantly increased hair density in patients with androgenic alopecia (AGA), with a mean increase of 27.55 hairs/cm². Despite the positive outcomes, the quality of evidence was low due to high heterogeneity, publication bias, and variability in PRP preparation methods. The study calls for more high-quality, standardized trials to confirm PRP's effectiveness and optimize its use, including exploring the best preparation methods and treatment frequencies.
