TLDR Most women with hair loss using 5% topical Minoxidil are satisfied with the treatment, but hair loss still affects their daily habits and social life.
The study involved 31 adult women with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) who had been using 5% topical Minoxidil daily for at least six months. The results showed that 83.9% (n=26) of the participants were satisfied with the treatment and its convenience. Hair loss influenced the social life of 54.8% (n=17) of the respondents and the choice of haircut/hairstyle in 87.1% (n=27) of respondents. For 51.6% (n=16), hair loss was slightly increased, but it did not increase after beginning treatment. The study concluded that patient satisfaction and quality of life of women with AGA on 5% topical minoxidil are high, although hair loss influences daily habits and social life. The psychological profile of patients might be more important than clinical data in determining treatment satisfaction and quality of life. The study also emphasized the importance of managing patients' expectations to avoid treatment failure.
