TLDR Minoxidil's hair growth benefits may decrease over time.
The study observed the effects of minoxidil on hair growth over an extended period, noting a decrease in total hair counts between the 12th and 30th month of use, particularly in subjects with average and above-average responses. Initially, 149 subjects participated, but only 102 completed 12 months, and 89 completed two years. By the third year, only 54 subjects (50 men and 4 women) continued. The findings suggested that while minoxidil was effective in promoting hair growth, its benefits might diminish over time, highlighting the need for long-term follow-up to determine the optimal duration of therapy for maximum benefit.
