Randomized controlled trial on a PRP-like cosmetic, biomimetic peptides based, for the treatment of alopecia areata

In a study conducted by Rinaldi Fabio and colleagues, a PRP-like cosmetic product with biomimetic peptides was tested on 60 participants with Alopecia Areata (AA) over a three-month period, with an additional one-month follow-up. The participants were divided into two groups: one treated with the PRP-like product (TR-M-PRP plus) and the other with a placebo. The treatment group showed a mean percentage scalp hair regrowth of 57.07% at three months and 68.12% at the four-month mark, while the placebo group only showed 27.96% and 28.89% regrowth, respectively. The study concluded that the PRP-like cosmetic is a potentially valid and safer alternative to autologous PRP treatments for AA, with no adverse effects reported.
