TLDR PRP treatment helps hair growth and density with 70.7% success, but more research needed.
A 5-year-old meta-analysis found that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment can be effective in promoting hair growth and increasing hair density in patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), with a success rate of 70.7%. However, more research is needed to determine the optimal PRP treatment protocol and to fully understand the mechanisms behind its effectiveness. The study analyzed previous research and databases to evaluate the potential of PRP in improving AGA. Overall, PRP injections were found to be effective in increasing hair number per cm² and hair thickness in the treatment of AGA, but caution should be taken due to small sample sizes, differences in methods and settings, and potential bias in the studies.
