Ginsenoside Rb1 promotes the growth of mink hair follicle via PI3K/AKT/GSK-3β signaling pathway

in “Life Sciences”
TLDR Ginsenoside Rb1 from Panax ginseng helps mink hair grow by activating certain cell signals.
The study demonstrated that ginsenoside Rb1, a compound from Panax ginseng, significantly promotes mink hair follicle growth and enhances the proliferation and migration of dermal papilla cells (DPCs). This effect is mediated through the activation of the PI3K/AKT/GSK-3β signaling pathway, as evidenced by increased expression of VEGFA and its receptor VEGF-R2, and decreased expression of TGF-ß1. The study, which used 15 hair follicles per group and cultured DPCs with ginsenoside Rb1 for 96 hours, supports the potential therapeutic use of ginsenoside Rb1 in hair growth promotion.
