TLDR Electric stimulation at 448 kHz can promote hair growth by enhancing cell activity in hair follicles.
The study examines the effects of 448 kHz capacitive resistive electrical transfer (CRET) on dermal papilla cells (DPCs), which are vital for hair growth and regeneration. CRET therapy, particularly with the standard signal, enhances DPC proliferation and survival by increasing p-MAPK-ERK1/2 and cyclin D1 expression while reducing p53 and caspase 3 levels. It also boosts β-catenin and anagen phase markers like versican and PPARγ, suggesting potential for hair regeneration. The findings indicate that CRET could be a promising non-invasive alternative to pharmacological treatments for alopecia, though further clinical trials are needed to confirm these effects.
