TLDR Adenosine may help with hair loss, but more research is needed.
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of topical adenosine in treating hair loss by analyzing 7 clinical trials with 466 participants. The trials indicated that adenosine could reduce hair loss and increase hair density, although the evidence was rated from very low to moderate due to small sample sizes and flawed designs. A meta-analysis of 3 trials using 0.75% adenosine lotion showed a tendency for increased hair density and thickness and a decrease in thin hairs after 6 months, but differences from placebo were not statistically significant. Patient satisfaction was generally higher with adenosine compared to treatments like 5% minoxidil. Despite the low strength of evidence, adenosine may be beneficial, especially for those who cannot use approved hair loss medications, but further well-designed trials are needed to confirm these findings.

The user shared their 5-year hair loss journey, initially using a product called Triphasic Progressive by Rene Furterer, which gave good results. Later, they switched to FDA-approved medications finasteride and minoxidil, which also helped, but they noticed the most significant progress with Triphasic. They're considering trying it again if minoxidil doesn't show improvements.
