TLDR A new microneedle system with minoxidil nanoparticles effectively promotes hair regrowth with fewer side effects.
Researchers developed a temperature-responsive detachable microneedle system loaded with minoxidil nanoparticles to enhance hair regrowth in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). This system improves minoxidil's solubility and transdermal delivery, reducing the required dose and frequency of application, thereby minimizing side effects and enhancing user compliance. The microneedles, made from hyaluronic acid and integrated with a switchable adhesion ring, ensure robust attachment and prolonged drug efficacy. In AGA models, this system effectively promoted the transition of hair follicles from the telogen to anagen phase, showing superior results compared to traditional minoxidil solutions.
