TLDR A new hair loss treatment combining minoxidil and cedrol improves hair growth and reduces side effects.
The study developed a new hair follicle delivery system, MXD-CED@CDF, loaded with minoxidil and cedrol for effectively treating Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA). This system reduced the adverse reaction of minoxidil, improved drug release and follicular delivery performance, enhanced human dermal papilla cells' (hDPCs) viability and uptake of drugs, and developed biocompatibility with skin. It also presented premature initiation and prolongation of the anagen phase in the hair cycle, hair follicle differentiation, and hair regeneration. The study used human dermal papilla cells, male C57BL/6 mice, and New Zealand white rabbits for the experiments. The synergistic effect of minoxidil and cedrol showed excellent results in promoting hDPCs viability and treating AGA in C57BL/6 mice.

community Why don't Minoxidil regenerated hairs become terminal on the head?

in Minoxidil  102 upvotes 6 days ago
Minoxidil helps hair growth by increasing blood flow and prolonging the growth phase, but it doesn't address the root cause of hair loss, such as DHT sensitivity. Finasteride can help maintain some gains by blocking DHT, but stopping Minoxidil often leads to hair loss because the new hairs are dependent on it.

Minoxidil caused side effects like chest pain and tinnitus for the user, leading them to stop using it and consider switching to finasteride with microneedling. Other users shared similar experiences with minoxidil, while some reported no issues, highlighting varied individual reactions.

community 8 months on oral minoxidil. No sign of regrowth.

The user has been taking 2mg oral minoxidil and 1mg finasteride but has seen no hair regrowth after 8 months, leading to concerns about being a non-responder. They are considering increasing the minoxidil dosage or switching to dutasteride, while also using keto shampoo and microneedling, but remain skeptical about the effectiveness of minoxidil.
