TLDR A specific RNA in cashmere goats helps improve hair growth by interacting with certain molecules.
The study identified a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA-599547) in the secondary hair follicle of cashmere goats and investigated its role in the inductive properties of dermal papilla cells (DPCs). The expression of lncRNA-599547 was significantly higher during the anagen phase of hair growth compared to the telogen phase. Overexpression of lncRNA-599547 in DPCs led to increased expression of ALP and LEF1, while silencing it resulted in decreased expression of these markers, indicating its regulatory role in DPC function. The study also demonstrated that lncRNA-599547 interacts with chi-miR-15b-5p and modulates the expression of Wnt10b, a gene involved in hair follicle development, at the post-transcriptional level without affecting its promoter methylation. These findings suggest that lncRNA-599547 acts by sponging miR-15b-5p to regulate Wnt10b expression, thereby enhancing the inductive capacity of DPCs in cashmere goats.
