TLDR The study improved understanding of gene roles in cashmere goat hair growth, aiding future cashmere production.
The study on cashmere goats (Capra hircus) provided insights into the roles of coding genes, miRNAs, and lncRNAs in hair follicle development and cycling. Researchers identified 1,108 lncRNAs and 541 miRNAs during the anagen and telogen phases, with significant differential expression observed. The study highlighted the functional conservation of lncRNAs and identified miRNA-mRNA and miRNA-lncRNA interactions, constructing ceRNA networks that illustrated their roles in hair follicle biology. This research expanded the understanding of lncRNA and miRNA biology, contributing to the annotation of the goat genome and providing a foundation for future studies on improving cashmere fiber production.

community Why is dht bad for scalp hair but good for hair on the rest of body?

in Satire  109 upvotes 2 years ago
The conversation discusses why DHT (dihydrotestosterone) negatively affects scalp hair but promotes growth elsewhere on the body. Various opinions include genetic predispositions, differences in hair follicle reactions to DHT, and the potential role of Omega-3 in reducing inflammation and promoting hair health.

community The pessimism about the Crisp Cas 9 is excessive
