TLDR The study found key genes and pathways involved in cashmere goat hair growth stages.
The study investigated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in cashmere goat skin during hair follicle development and cycling using RNA-Seq, generating over 7.3 million clean reads per stage. It identified 1,332 DEGs across anagen, catagen, and telogen stages, with significant involvement of pathways like Wnt, Shh, TGF-β, and Notch. Key genes from the tumor necrosis factor family, chemokine family, and others were highlighted, with hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and macrophage-stimulating protein (MSP) showing high expression during anagen and catagen. The study provided valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms of hair follicle development, laying a foundation for future research to potentially enhance cashmere production.
