    GlossaryNF-κB activation

process where a protein complex moves to the nucleus

NF-κB activation refers to the process by which the NF-κB (Nuclear Factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) protein complex is triggered to move from the cytoplasm into the nucleus of a cell. Once in the nucleus, it binds to DNA and activates the transcription of specific genes involved in immune and inflammatory responses, cell growth, and survival. This pathway is crucial in many biological processes and is often implicated in diseases such as cancer and autoimmune disorders.
