    Necroptosis is a form of programmed cell death that is distinct from apoptosis, characterized by the swelling of cells and the release of pro-inflammatory signals. It plays a significant role in various biological processes, including tissue homeostasis and response to stress, and has been implicated in hair follicle biology and hair loss conditions. In the context of hair loss, necroptosis may contribute to the degeneration of hair follicle cells, influencing conditions such as alopecia. Key distinguishing characteristics of necroptosis include its reliance on specific signaling pathways, such as the receptor-interacting protein kinases (RIPK1 and RIPK3), which differentiate it from other forms of cell death.
