TLDR A new gel improves hair loss treatment by effectively delivering minoxidil and finasteride to the scalp.
The study developed a novel in situ thermosensitive hydrogel combining ionic liquid, cyclodextrin, and poloxamer for the co-delivery of minoxidil (MXD) and finasteride (FIN) to hair follicles, aiming to treat androgenic alopecia (AGA) synergistically. This hydrogel, termed M+F@ICPG, transitions from liquid to gel upon contact with the scalp, enhancing drug retention in the skin and reducing systemic toxicity. The formulation improves the solubility and targeted delivery of MXD and FIN, overcoming the stratum corneum barrier and providing synergistic effects by promoting angiogenesis, inhibiting 5α-reductase 2, and reducing inflammation. The efficacy of M+F@ICPG was demonstrated in a testosterone-induced AGA mouse model, suggesting it as a promising strategy for AGA treatment.

Quitting vaping significantly reduced hair loss for a user who was a heavy vaper and also taking finasteride. Some participants suggest nicotine's vasoconstrictive properties may worsen hair loss, while others share personal anecdotes of hair improvement after quitting smoking or vaping.

community Why I really believe the tension theory is the cause of MPB

      in Research/Science  70 upvotes 3 years ago
The conversation discusses the tension theory as a cause of male pattern baldness (MPB), suggesting that scalp tension and reduced subcutaneous fat layer contribute to hair loss. Treatments mentioned include Minoxidil, finasteride, microneedling, scalp massages, and Botox.

? This post by PastelDeUva discusses their experience with Minoxidil and Finasteride for hair loss treatments, which they stopped using for a year before resuming due to family's negative opinion. After restarting, they posted photos of the progression/regression of their hairline and are now planning on adding finasteride and dermarolling in order to get good results.
