TLDR A specific RNA helps increase the growth of skin cells in Liaoning cashmere goats by working with a protein to boost a growth-related gene.
The study reveals that a novel long non-coding RNA (lncRNA018392) plays a significant role in promoting the proliferation of skin fibroblasts in the Liaoning cashmere goat, a breed known for its high fleece production. This lncRNA018392, which is overexpressed, is found to accelerate the cell cycle, facilitate cell proliferation, and inhibit apoptosis by forming a complex with the transcription factor SPI1, thereby up-regulating the expression of the nearby gene CSF1R. The knockdown of lncRNA018392 reversed the effect of melatonin on cell proliferation, and the proliferation of cashmere skin fibroblasts was inhibited when the cells were interfered with the gene CSF1R. These findings provide a theoretical basis for understanding the molecular mechanism of cashmere growth and the molecular breeding of cashmere goats.
