TLDR The lncRNA LOXL1-AS1 may help diagnose and treat androgenic alopecia.
The study investigated the role of the lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA ceRNA network in androgenic alopecia (AGA) by analyzing hair follicles from 3 AGA patients and 3 healthy individuals. High-throughput sequencing identified 84 differentially expressed lncRNAs, with 30 upregulated and 54 downregulated. The lncRNA LOXL1-AS1 was found to have significant diagnostic potential for AGA, acting as a sponge for hsa-miR-5193 to regulate TP53 expression. This ceRNA network could be crucial in understanding AGA's pathology and developing targeted treatments.
