TLDR PCAT1 helps hair growth by controlling miR-329/Wnt10b.
The study found that the long non-coding RNA PCAT1 plays a role in promoting hair follicle regeneration by regulating the miR-329/Wnt10b axis. PCAT1 maintains the characteristics of dermal papilla cells and promotes hair follicle regeneration by promoting Wnt10b gene expression through sponging miR-329. Knockdown of PCAT1 inhibited cell viability, proliferation, ALP activity, and the expression of hair-induction biomarkers by targeting miR-329. The study suggests that PCAT1 could be a potential therapeutic target for hair loss and alopecia.
