TLDR Edelweiss extract can increase hair density and promote hair growth.
The study examined the effects of Leontopodium alpinum (Edelweiss) extract on hair growth. Ex vivo experiments showed the extract inhibited catagen development and promoted hair follicle elongation. In a clinical trial with 60 Caucasian participants (30 per group), those using a serum with 2% Edelweiss extract experienced a significant increase in hair density (+22 hair/cm²) compared to the placebo group. The extract prolonged the anagen phase and increased hair matrix keratinocyte proliferation, suggesting it could be a promising, milder alternative to traditional hair loss treatments.
