TLDR A substance from a specific gel helped to grow hair effectively in mice, suggesting it could potentially be used to treat hair loss in humans.
In 2020, a study on C57BL/6 mice found that conditioned medium (CM) from extracellular matrix/stromal vascular fraction gel (ECM/SVF) promoted hair growth more effectively than CM from stem cells. The study involved 10 mice injected with ECM/SVF-CM, showing 95%-100% hair regeneration to full length 3 weeks after injection. The ECM/SVF-CM also increased the proliferation of human dermal papilla cells and cells in the bulge region of hair follicles, suggesting its potential use in clinical treatment of hair loss. However, further studies were needed to confirm the effectiveness of this approach.
