TLDR Dermal stem cells help regenerate hair follicles and heal skin wounds.
This document from 2017 explores the role of dermal stem cells in hair follicle regeneration and skin wound healing, with a focus on their contribution to the dermal papilla and dermal sheath. The study found that dermal stem cells play a crucial role in hair follicle regeneration and skin wound healing by replenishing the dermal sheath and dermal papilla during hair cycles, and by providing new cells for the dermal papilla post-wounding. The study also suggests that differences in hair cycle stages should be considered when designing cutaneous injury experiments in mice. The findings suggest potential targets for future interventions to improve outcomes after skin injury or disease.
