TLDR Cedrol nanoemulsions effectively treat hair loss by promoting hair growth and reducing DHT levels safely.
This study introduces cedrol nanoemulsions (CD-NEs) as a novel treatment for androgenic alopecia (AGA). Cedrol (CD) inhibits 5α-reductase 2 (5αR2) and promotes cell proliferation, similar to finasteride but with fewer side effects. CD-NEs enhance transdermal penetration by altering lipid organization, facilitating deeper skin delivery. In vivo tests on C57BL/6 mice show that CD-NEs significantly promote hair follicle regeneration and reduce dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels in the skin. The findings suggest CD-NEs as a promising, safe, and effective treatment for AGA.
