Low-dose oral minoxidil prescribing guidance was issued by an international dermatology panel for off-label use. A dual-wavelength LED cap was reported to add about 28.5 hairs per cm² over sham, though only in pooled analysis. Oral minoxidil in healthy men was found to speed hair growth 16.5% at 1 mg and 35.9% at 2.5 mg, raising heart rate but not blood pressure. Topical dutasteride formulations are being developed to reduce oral dutasteride's sexual and neurological side effects. Adding pulsed electromagnetic field therapy to light therapy was reported to raise hair counts more than light alone. COVID-19 vaccination and alopecia areata showed no evidence of raised risk, though most data are case reports.
