Adding Er:YAG laser to standard medication improved hair counts and thickness versus medication alone. A network meta-analysis of monotherapies ranked dutasteride 0.5 mg most effective, ahead of oral minoxidil, while oral minoxidil versus topical 5% was found equally effective. Telemedical data on topical finasteride/minoxidil in 1,545 men showed effectiveness with adverse events in 11.8% and sexual side effects no different from oral finasteride, though adherence was lower. Lyophilized growth factor injections matched PRP for crown transplant density. In 97 alopecia areata patients, oral tofacitinib produced improvement over 50% in 69% with no significant adverse events, though patchy disease responded best.
