TLDR PRP improves hair growth in androgenic alopecia, especially when combined with minoxidil.
This study evaluated the effects of 5% minoxidil, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and their combination on hair growth in 45 patients with androgenic alopecia (AGA). The patients were divided into three groups: minoxidil alone, PRP alone, and a combination of both. After 6 months, Groups II (PRP) and III (combined therapy) showed significant improvements in hair count, density, terminal hair count, and anagen ratio, with the combination therapy also significantly reducing vellus hair count and density. Although patient-reported improvement did not differ significantly among the groups, the study supports PRP's effectiveness in enhancing hair growth parameters in AGA, particularly when used with minoxidil.
