TLDR Androgenetic alopecia is more common in Saudi men than women.
The study aimed to determine the prevalence of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in the Saudi population through a cross-sectional survey with a 98% response rate, including 2162 participants (49% male, 51% female) aged 15-50 years. Results showed that 45.1% of men and 37.3% of women had AGA. The study highlighted a higher prevalence of AGA in men and suggested that both genetic and environmental factors contribute to its occurrence. The findings emphasize the importance of early detection and medical intervention to mitigate the psychological and social impacts of AGA. The study also noted a significant family history of AGA among participants.
