TLDR Androgenetic alopecia significantly affects quality of life, especially for women, who are more willing to pay for treatment.
The study evaluated the quality of life (QoL) and willingness-to-pay (WTP) in 233 patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), revealing a moderate impact on QoL with a mean dermatology life quality index score of 7.8±5.8. Notably, 28.5% of participants reported a very large to extremely large impact on their QoL. Women were significantly more willing to pay for treatment than men, indicating a greater impact on women. The study underscored the need for more research on the psychological effects of AGA and suggested that psychological support should accompany medical treatment due to the disease's significant burden and limited treatment options. Limitations included a small sample size and potential biases from self-reported data.
